I know that it has been a while since we have heard from our good friend and better known as our finest and only west coast sales manager Ken Cooper so I am sure you will enjoy this one that Ken says he has discovered as the true past history of this watch. Just a reminder that Ken has been known to indulge in a few too many wines at times so please consider this when digesting the following essay from Ken….
When he was just a youngster, never knowing his father, Conrad "Connie" Radiole led a very miserable life that just continued to get worse each day. Just 8 years old his gin-filled mother was stabbed to death by one of her numerous "boyfriends" leaving young Connie to fend for himself during the Great Depression of the 1930s. He learned to live/survive on the streets, he rode the rails as a hobo all over the United States, and having never completed grade school was able, somehow, to enlist in the Army before Pearl Harbor. During the war he served in the infantry in Africa and Europe receiving many awards for valor and being wounded 11 times. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant and was respected by all in his Battalion. Somewhere along the way he developed a love for quality timepieces and swore one day he would own a true work of art that would put to shame all other watches. During his last tour of duty was able to obtain a Vacheron & Constantin pocket watch, and he set out on a quest to convert it to a one of a kind wrist watch. Finally, many years later, he found an elderly watchmaker while stationed in Germany, and Connie explained what he wanted. The watchmaker said he could do it and when completed Connie would own a work of art to be admired by all. The day came and Master Sergeant Radiole took delivery of this hand crafted beauty. Every 2 years, like clockwork(pun intended), Connie had his beautiful watch serviced. As he neared the twilight of his life, the hero of the Battle of the Bulge, Master Sergeant Radiole, US Army (Ret) sold his Vacheron & Constantin to a Mr Girard Sensoli of Pinckney, MI with firm instructions to sell his fine timepiece to a person that enjoys the better things in life. Girard now offers this splendid timepiece for your pleasure and enjoyment. Ask about Girard's "special layaway" when purchasing this timepiece. And to answer your question Connie is still living but has moved to the planet Mars to escape Earth's rat race.
